Game Day

Volunteers

CHILL PARENT

As you're watching the game, monitor the spectators supporting our team. If any spectators behave in an unsportsmanlike manner, politely remind them that it's just a game and we need to set a good example for the kids.

SCORE

Keep score by either flipping the manual scorekeeper (red and blue plastic) or operating the scoreboard control panel. Instructions are provided. A sheet is provided for you to record goals, penalties, etc.

TIME

Use either the stopwatch or operate the scoreboard control panel to keep time for play. The referees will tell you how much time you need for each quarter. When time is up, blow the air horn.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Generally when we are the Away Team, the only duty assigned is Chill Parent. This varies between the Boys and Girls Leagues and at a different age levels. The exception is if the coach or manager asks you to help in another capacity. If that is the case, please email the Team Parent and Head Coach. Include the date and time of the game, the team that you volunteered for, your first and last name, and the players first and last name.
  • During home games, there are usually at least three openings listed for each game: Chill Parent, Score Keeper, and Time Keeper. Please know that the Coaches, the Team Parent, or another KALA representative may ask for help at the last minute. Sometimes people aren't able to fulfill their commitment at the last minute.
  • If you have to cancel, you can do so online up until 24 hours prior to the game. Please let your team parent know as soon as possible that you need that spot filled.
  • Sometimes coaches need to miss practice and ask other adults to supervise.  If a coach ever asks you to help out, you get credit.  Just let your manager know.
